Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had a brief halt in New Delhi a couple of days ago while returning from his Mussorie.

Much before he landed in New Delhi, he sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah.

However, both Modi and Shah did not give their appointment to Naidu on the pretext that they were pre-occupied.

As a result, Naidu had to remain content with meeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitely only to seek funds for the Polavaram project.

Apparently, the BJP national leadership is not keen on entertaining Naidu much at this stage, as the party is contemplating growing independently in the southern states.

Even with regard to discussing developmental works, Modi has decided to leave it to the cabinet colleagues, rather than meeting the chief minister.

Naidu, however, wants to maintain utmost restraint and be patient with regard to maintaining cordial relations with the BJP.

Though he is expressing his discontent over the denial of funds from the Centre to offset the revenue loss, he is not speak in an aggressive tone. May be is waiting the BJP to open up a little more, before launching the offensive.

Sources say instead of making any political comments, Naidu wants to confine himself to concentrate only on the funds and projects, so that in the event of the BJP severs its ties with the TDP before the 2019 elections, he will have an alibi saying that he had to go for an alliance with the BJP only for the sake of funds. He can blame the BJP for depriving the state of funds then!
