Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, confirmed that a new site for the construction of the headquarters is being finalized after the previously allocated land was found unsuitable due to issues like water stagnation.

In a continued effort to push the project forward, the Ministry of Railways has maintained close communication with the Andhra Pradesh government to expedite the process. Vaishnaw also acknowledged the persistent involvement of Union Civil Aviation Minister, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, who has been in regular discussions with him to ensure that the project moves swiftly.

The SCoR headquarters project, initially promised by the central government in 2019, faced delays primarily due to land allocation issues during the tenure of the previous state government under Jagan Mohan Reddy. However, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) now in power at both the state and central levels, the project has gained new momentum. The central government had previously allocated substantial funds for the project, and with the recent developments in land allocation, construction is expected to commence shortly.

The people of Uttarandhra, who have been eagerly awaiting the establishment of this railway zone, now have renewed hope that the work will progress rapidly, fulfilling a long-standing demand that has seen numerous delays over the years. As land allocation nears completion, the SCoR headquarters in Visakhapatnam is closer than ever to becoming a reality, marking a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructural development.
