Naidu To Contest From Nandyal In 2019?
Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu planning to contest the next assembly elections in 2019 from Nandyal assembly constituency?
According to a talk doing rounds in the political and media circles, Naidu has mooted this idea before some of his senior party colleagues.
He is said to be of the view that his contest from Nandyal would have a positive impact on the party prospects in the rest of Kurnool district.
The recent by-elections have shown that the people are strongly in favour of the TDP and hence, Nandyal would be a safe seat for him.
Perhaps that was the reason why the TDP government had put an extra effort in Nandyal during the recent by-elections.
Several developmental works have been taken up in the town and the government is focussing on making it a model town for Rayalaseema. And Naidu even declared that he would develop Nandyal on the lines of Kuppam.
By the way, what will happen to Kuppam, if Naidu shifts to Nandyal? The answer is simple: His son Nara Lokesh will contest from Kuppam in 2019. Since Naidu has already laid a strong foundation in Kuppam, it would not be difficult for Lokesh to win the seat.
Otherwise, if he contests from any other seat, it will not be so easy to win. And that is precisely why Lokesh is also making frequent visits to Kuppam these days!
