T20 World Cup Team India scripted history in Barbados by winning the T20 World Cup Final, ending a seventeen-year wait for a T20 World Cup title and a thirteen-year wait for an ICC event win.

Batting first, India faced early setbacks, losing their first three wickets for a mere 34 runs. Virat Kohli, playing the anchor role, stabilized the innings and helped India post a competitive total of 176 runs. Though some criticized Kohli for being overly defensive at times, his resilience was crucial to India’s total.

India got off to a dream start with the ball as Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Reeza Hendricks with just seven runs on the board, followed by Arshdeep Singh taking out Aiden Markram with twelve runs on the board. Bumrah was brought back at a critical juncture in the sixteenth over, successfully stemming the flow of runs and creating pressure. Hardik Pandya, tasked with bowling the final over with South Africa needing sixteen runs, delivered brilliantly. He dismissed the dangerous David Miller on the first ball, thanks to a sensational catch by Surya Kumar Yadav, which will be remembered as one of the best in cricket history. Hardik conceded just seven runs in the final over, sealing the victory for Team India.

The Proteas were left to rue their missed opportunity, having choked at the crucial moment. However, credit must be given to Team India for maintaining their composure under pressure and achieving a historic victory. Finally, the long-awaited dream came true, and the drought has ended.Read more..
