Canada New Visa Rule To Affect Ind Students
Canada has imposed a new set of rules and regulations on the issuance of International student visas and this will directly affect the Indian student community. Canada has announced that the country has imposed a 2-year cap on international student visas effective immediately. This will mean that the student visas that will be issued henceforth will permit the students to stay in the country only for two years.
Not just that, Canada has decided to cut down on the international student intake by 35% in 2024. Their annual intake might fall down to 3,64,000 as opposed to 5,60,000 in 2022. This is in view of the housing crisis in the country and also ease up the scarcity of temporary residence for international students. This new rule on the curb in students intake quantity and the tenure restriction will be in effect for 2 years. The same will be reassessed again in 2025 based on the situation then. The main aim for the vast majority of Indian students is the opportunity in stay in the country for longer periods and search for job sources. With Canada restricting the visa duration to 2 years, it could well discourage the student community.
