If I Were CM, It Would’ve Been Different: CBN
It has been nearly an year since Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu lost his power in Andhra Pradesh to YSR Congress party led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy with a huge margin.
Yet, Naidu still continues to feel as if he is still the chief minister. Whenever there is any major development, he goes into dreams and thinks how he would have handled the situation had he continued as the chief minister of the state.
Following the Thursday’s tragedy in Visakhapatnam wherein leakage of poisonous gas led to the death of 12 persons, the TDP president is desperately trying to prove that the situation would have been different had he been the chief minister of the state.
Naidu told reporters on Friday that had he been the chief minister, he would have straightaway gone to the LG Polymers chemical plant to inspect the lapses, instead of holding review meetings with officials in the guest houses like what Jagan had done.
“Because of his inexperience in handling such situations, Jagan has taken the whole incident non-seriously. The inquiry ordered by the state government was just an eye-wash. Even the cases filed against the company was non-serious and petty,” he alleged.
He pointed out that nowhere in the country was there any accident involving styrene gas. One has to go deeper into the inquiry to find out whether it was a technical lapse or a human negligence, the TDP chief said.
Naidu demanded that the LG Polymers India Ltd be shifted from residential zone of at R R Venkatapuram to outside of the city. He also wanted that the polymers plant be closed down immediately and a thorough inquiry be ordered into the gas leakage.
“Subsequent to inquiry, it is necessary to shift the entire unit to Special Economic Zone (SEZ) that has no population in the vicinity,” he suggested.
