YS Jagan Mohan Reddy won the 2019 elections with a record majority. After that, he won all the local elections in Andhra Pradesh by brute force.
But electoral victories alone do not make a leader. It is all about character and there are doubts on that front because he dumped his own family just for the sake of politics. Let us discuss point by point why Jagan is very dangerous as a politician just with the example of Viveka case.
Sakshi was established during YSR’s rule to be a mouthpiece of Rajasekhara Reddy and it has become one for Jagan after the former’s demise. Jagan has been strengthening Sakshi ever since 2019 giving it the highest number of Government ads and making it mandatory in all Government offices and for all volunteers. Sakshi has been peddling agenda against the Opposition and now in Viveka’s case, it is surprising how Sakshi does not even spare Jagan’s family.
There is a campaign to show Viveka is a man of all vices who is into settlements and affairs. Jagan’s sister Sunitha is also not spared. Power of Lobbying: Jagan is accused in numerous CBI and ED cases. These cases are more than a decade old and even the trial in these cases did not begin yet. In the last four years, Jagan did not attend a single hearing but even then, there is no problem with his bail. Every time, there is some movement in his case or Viveka’s case, we see Jagan flying to Delhi.
There are media reports that similar attempts are going on when Viveka’s case reached a crucial stage. Strong Legal Team: Senior advocate Niranjan Reddy has been nominated to Rajya Sabha by Jagan. Ponnuvolu Sudhakar Reddy was appointed as the Additional Advocate General of the Andhra Pradesh Government after 2019. Both of them were Jagan’s lawyers in his disproportionate assets cases.
Niranjan Reddy even appeared for Avinash Reddy in court. We are talking about the murder case of Jagan’s uncle here. And then, there are supreme court lawyers who descend on special flights whenever Jagan is in trouble.
Corporate Lobby: We have seen Jagan staying in the good books of big corporate giants like Ambani and Adani. Jagan has given away a Rajya Sabha berth to a key man of Ambani. And then, Adani is bagging Ports in Andhra Pradesh. Political opponents say Jagan is lobbying in Delhi using them whenever he is in trouble. Strong Social Media: Thanks to I-PAC, YSR Congress has got strong social media teams even while it is in Opposition. There is a coordinated attack on the Opposition as per the needs of YSR Congress. The campaign they unleashed on Sharmila earlier and Viveka now is a fine example of how they do not spare anyone if they come in the way of Jagan. In short, Jagan believes he can manipulate the public using all these strong resources in hand but a strong public awareness like how it started in the recent MLC elections can come in his way in 2024.
